Stories from the open country

What Live Wild. Stay Free. Really Means

Some words are written to fill space. Live Wild. Stay Free. was not.

It started as a plain-spoken reminder: your life ought to feel like your own. Not perfectly planned. Not polished for somebody else. Yours.

Wild does not mean reckless.

To us, living wild is less about running away and more about paying attention. It is taking the long road because the country is better. It is staying curious, getting your hands dirty, and choosing the work and people that keep you honest. It is making room for a little weather, a little dust, and the kind of stories you cannot collect from the sidelines.

That spirit runs through our Free Range Originals. Every original begins with a thought worth carrying: some dry humor, some hard-earned perspective, or a reminder that freedom is usually built one decision at a time.

Freedom has weight to it.

Staying free does not mean standing alone. Real freedom comes with responsibility. You keep your word. You show up when the weather turns. You make your own call, then own what follows.

That is also why First In belongs here. It honors the people who run toward the call and the families who carry that service home. Their work is a different kind of freedom: the discipline to stand steady when somebody else needs help.

Made from this part of the map.

Free Range Apparel Co. was built from eastern Wyoming to eastern South Dakota and all the beautiful country in between. Out here, distance changes your sense of scale. Weather changes your plans. People learn to make do, lend a hand, laugh at the rough edges, and keep moving.

We do not believe Western style needs to be dressed up into a costume. The pieces we make and choose should feel lived in, useful, and true to the people wearing them. You can read more about where that point of view comes from on our About page.

Take the reminder with you.

Maybe freedom looks like a new direction. Maybe it looks like holding your ground. Maybe it is an afternoon outside, a job done right, a quiet house after a loud week, or finally saying no to a life that never fit.

Whatever it looks like for you, make room for it.

Live Wild. Stay Free.
